With the imminent commencement of the Fall Term, a series of exciting arts and culture activities await the HKUST community! From September 25 onwards, there will be a series of musical and cultural events under the banner “Cosmopolis Festival”, featuring the HK Philharmonic Orchestra, renowned harpsichord master Mahan Esfani, Chinese Windpipe Music Ensemble, and other violin and piano concerts. The regular Movie Night@ Shaw series will continue with the addition of the Diversity = Strength Film Festival in October, while student activities such as Career Mosaic and Congregation will also be held at the multi-purpose venue. Since reopening in April, Shaw Auditorium has hosted two film screenings and a solo piano recital by pianist Aristo Sham. It also held many university-wide events involving students, staff, alumni and external partners. Take a look at what we have planned for the summer.  Read more

The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) celebrated today the opening of Shaw Auditorium - a brand new hall with state-of-the-art facilities supported by a HK$150 million donation from the Shaw Foundation Hong Kong (SFHK).  This new landmark is set to turn HKUST into an arts and culture hub, offer a new place of learning and gathering for the community and further humanistic and creativity development of the University and its surrounding environment. Student Stage Trainee Program

The Student Stage Trainee Program will equip HKUST students with the basic event production knowledge in a professional stage and theater setting. In addition to getting hands-on experience in stage management, sound design, lighting and video technology needed in a real-life backstage setting, the trainees will also familiarize themselves with the ins and outs of the stage and backstage protocols, gaining a fresh perspective and professional experience from theatre and entertainment arts programs. Most importantly, they will be able to participate in the daily operations of the Shaw Auditorium in future.
