This year, the Spelling Bee took center stage of Shaw Auditorium at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) as part of the University’s signature Community Musical, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, filling the hall with vibrant energy and the laughter of over 1,800 enthusiatic spectators.
In the award-winning Shaw Auditorium at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), the atmosphere was charged with anticipation as a magical transformation took place. The stage was set for the university's production of "The Music Man", a famous and family-friendly Broadway musical that brought together the diverse HKUST community like never before on March 23 and 24.

The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) celebrated today the opening of Shaw Auditorium - a brand new hall with state-of-the-art facilities supported by a HK$150 million donation from the Shaw Foundation Hong Kong (SFHK). This new landmark is set to turn HKUST into an arts and culture hub, offer a new place of learning and gathering for the community and further humanistic and creativity development of the University and its surrounding environment.
Set to open shortly, our eagerly-awaited Shaw Auditorium will add exciting new dimensions to HKUST’s commitment to feeding the heart and nourishing the soul of its community members. It will also measurably accelerate the development of more boundary-pushing arts and cultural initiatives.
